Frequently Asked Questions

The roof system of a home is a highly dynamic environment, and over time, constant exposure to the elements will cause the roof system to fail. As shingles age, they become dry and brittle, lose granules, and become more permeable.
Roof Shield addresses these failure points through our ‘Clean-Restore-Protect’ program.
Before the Roof Reboot rejuvenator is applied, the roof will be fully inspected, repaired, and cleaned. Common leak points, such as failing pipe boots, exposed nail heads, and flashing issues, will be inspected and repaired.
Next, the roof will be cleaned with a full soft wash that will neutralize and remove the organic matter that is not only unsightly but is actually helping destroy the shingles.
Finally, the Roof Reboot rejuvenator will be applied. The roof rejuvenation restores the asphalt shingle’s performance to new while bringing out the shingle’s original color. The rejuvenator absorbs into the shingle and replaces the oils and polymers that have leached out over time. Bringing the shingle back to its original flexibility, stopping further granule loss and vapor transmission.

Roof Reboot is the asphalt shingle rejuvenation product that is owned and manufactured by Roof Shield LLC.
Roof Reboot absorbs into an aging asphalt shingle and:
Restores flexibility – aging shingles are brittle, dry, and prone to breakage. Roof Reboot restores flexibility to new.
Stops granule loss – aging shingles shed granules and will become too thin to protect the home. Roof Reboot stops granule loss.
Restores vapor resistance – aging shingles become permeable and allow water transmission, leading to rotten decking. Roof Reboot restores vapor resistance to new.
Restores curb appeal – Roof Reboot enhances the color of shingles, restoring their look while enhancing curb appeal.

Many factors affect how a roof will age. In general, we recommend the Roof Shield process for roof systems over 1 year old and not actively failing. Depending on shingle type and environment, Roof Shield clients tend to have roofs between 5 to 20 years of age. Furthermore, roofs that show black streaks (Gloecapsa Magma) are also likely candidates for Roof Shield as the streaking is caused by a bacterium that destroys shingles.

The short answer is no.
